What have we been up to

Here are some news stories you may be interested in... our journey of supporting the aviation industry continues

Fatigue Risk Management System to be Debuted at HeliOffshore Conference 2025.

Aviation still remains one of the safest ways to travel, but even so there continue to be near misses and tragic events. Detailed investigations lead us to understanding the root and contributing causes, often with a human at the centre.

Currently engineers go about their roles, day to day, with limited regulations to manage their working times. The consequences are many organisations are unsighted on human performance, workload and managing engineer’s fatigue.

Quantavia’s evolving Fatigue Risk Management System (FRMS)platform aims to change that. By applying data and automation to traditionally overlooked areas, it will help organisations have improved visibility through critical safety insights on the risks of engineering fatigue and how they can reduce them.

Quantavia, a leader in aviation software innovation, will be demonstrating this to the rotary sector during the HeliOffshore Conference and AGM 2025, taking place in Athens from 23–25 April.

The Fatigue Risk Management System (FRMS) has been developed in collaboration with DM Aviation Consulting and enables operators to move beyond reactive fatigue reporting with a proactive, data-driven system that reflects the latest in human factors thinking.

Key features include predictive fatigue modelling using live roster and duty data, built-in reporting tools and custom alerts to flag fatigue risks before they escalate, all display on a clear dashboard for visualising trends.

With the 2024 HeliOffshore Survey revealing that nearly 39% of engineers have experienced fatigue-related safety incidents, tools like FRMS are no longer optional, they're essential.

The FRMS is being built on the tried and tested Digital Forms technology, a key feature of the existing Quantavia flagship software product FlightCrewManager (FCM). The crew management platform simplifies the complexities of rostering, tracking, and compliance.

A new version of Digital Forms is now available and a live demonstration including how it integrates with both FRMS and FCM will be available at the HeliOffshore Conference.

Representing Quantavia at the event will be Founder and Chief Technology Officer Craig Webster, a former pilot with deep technical expertise alongside Commercial Director Chris Hassall. To schedule a meeting or demo of their software at the conference, email chris@quantavia.net.

Quantavia and DM Aviation Consulting Partner to Transform Fatigue Risk Management in Aerospace Engineering.

Cornwall UK - Quantavia and DM Aviation Consulting have joined forces to launch a pioneering fatigue risk management platform for aerospace engineering, offering predictive forecasting to enhance safety and efficiency.

The need to improve safety is clear, with a 2024 HeliOffshore survey* revealing that 38.8% of engineers reported fatigue experienced by themselves or colleagues had led to a safety incident or near miss in the past three months.

Addressing this often-overlooked area of fatigue risk and human resource management within aerospace engineering, Quantavia, an innovative aviation software company, and DM Aviation Consulting (DMAC), specialising in safety and compliance, have formed a strategic partnership.

Together with Human Factors Specialist, Dr Simon Gill from ReThink Safety, the partnership aims to provide operators with predictive fatigue forecasting, enabling proactive decisions to reduce fatigue-related risks.

The positive impact of reducing downtime due to engineering complications will also improve operational costs for organisations

This partnership combines Quantavia’s software development expertise with DMAC’s regulatory and operational experience to deliver a cutting-edge platform designed to improve safety and efficiency in aerospace maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) organisations, and Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisations (CAMOs).

The platform enhances human factors visibility by improving reporting, predictive fatigue forecasting, and decision-making. Designed specifically for engineering teams, it streamlines fatigue risk management, rostering, and communication.

Unlike traditional systems focused on flight operations, this solution features a modern visual interface tailored to simplify reporting, analysis, and operational efficiency in engineering departments.

“Our goal is to create intuitive, fast, and visual software that solves real-world challenges without unnecessary complexity," said Chris Hassall, Commercial Director at Quantavia.

“DMAC’s extensive expertise ensures this platform will meet the specific needs of MROs, CAMOs, and frontline engineering teams.”

"The team at Quantavia has a passion for delivering a product that is easy to use and provides accurate and timely information," said David Malins, Director of DMAC.

“Having been a regulator, I saw firsthand the challenges engineering departments face in measuring fatigue. Together we will develop a solution that will provide clear visibility into fatigue and human performance, ultimately improving the safety of operations.

Working with the team at Quantavia, academia, and industry, there is an opportunity to provide a simple IT solution that will be a positive step to improving the operational safety."

The team have an ambitious timeline taking a demonstrator to the HeliOffshore Annual Conference in Athens in April 2025 to gain feedback with stakeholders to help steer the development of the platform and to ensure the platform is optimised to their needs.

Following months of supporting the team at Global Airlines, the first of their A380 aircraft enters MRO facilities at EFW in Dresden. Working with various industry partners including Airbus, Rolls-Royce, Storm Aviation, Prestwick Airport and Hi-Fly, the aircraft completes a safe flight from Prestwick to Dresden on 4th October 2024. The aircraft will now undergo essential maintenance ahead of its entry into service.

Supporting our client in Poland to explore the opportnuity of establishing an engine repair capability.  Currently they are providing new engine compenents to Pratt and Whitney and GE.  Global challenges with engine onwing time has resulted in opportunities to establish a new EASA / FAA / UK CAA and CAAC.  DMAC is now providing regualtory advisory service to support our client establishing the capability for 2025.
